US stocks close with gains. S&P and Dow close near highs.

Nasdaq up, but off highs

The US stocks are ending the session higher with the S&P and Dow closing near high levels. The Nasdaq are closed with solid gains but more off the highs.

  • The S&P closed at 2755.45. That is up 17.14 points or 0.63%. The high reached 2756.82. The low reached 2737.08
  • The Nasdaq closed up 47.114 or 0.64% at 7375.96. The high was up at 7400.64. The low reached 7320.88
  • The Dow closed up 173.31 points or 0.68% at 25635. The high reached 25651.86. The low extended down to 25444.90.

Winners for the day include:

  • AMD, +3.92%
  • IBM, +2.56%
  • intuitive surgical, +2.42%
  • Caterpillar, +2.32%
  • Alphabet, +1.51%
  • Boeing, +1.32%
  • McDonald’s, +1.30%
  • Twitter, was 1.15%
  • Walt Disney, +1.10%
  • Celegene, +1.10%
  • Apple, +1.08%

Losers for the day include:

  • First Solar, -2.5%
  • Netflix, -1.46%
  • Nike, -1.24%
  • Kaiser, -1.22%
  • Citigroup, -0.90%
  • Intel, -0.88%
  • Nvidia, -0.34%
  • Goldman Sachs, -0.24%
  • American Express, -0.22%
  • Wells Fargo, -0.22%
  • Home Depot, -0.12%

Technically, the S&P index moved closer to the 200 day MA at 2763.77 (high reached 2756.82).  That makes the price action tomorrow key. A move above could solicit more upside.   If that MA cannot be broken, traders will look at this test, as a corrective move to the line that keeps the bias bearish.
