US stocks sink at the open

Soft start for equities

Worries about slowing growth are dragging down stocks today. The S&P 500 is down 19 points to 2712 shortly after the open.

The market has had a habit of grinding higher throughout the day since the turn of the year.

Shares of Twitter are a laggard, falling 10% after soft earnings guidance. Meanwhile, shares of SunTrust and BB&T are both higher after a merger announcement to create the sixth largest US bank.
